I realize this topic has been brought up a million times but I had a question regarding the number of schools I plan on applying to next cycle (~15-20 including DOs). So many people bring up the idea that "it's a numbers game" and if you apply to like 60 schools you might have a better shot. For one I don't have the money nor the time to write that many essays but just as important is the fact that I know for a fact I'm not a good fit for 60+ schools.
My questions are :
1. Is it bad to only apply to like 20 schools total (in my case its about 12 MD and 10 DO)
2. Does one really have a higher chance of getting in when applying to a slew of schools that are in the same ballpark of acceptance rates?
My stats: 3.2 cGPA; 3.1sGPA; 3.6 SMP GPA; 516
