How to transfer into University of Arizona SOM?

I'm an Arizona state resident and I wanted to know if anyone has any information about transferring to UA medical school. I didn't get into UA for this year and rather than waste a year waiting to reapply, I accepted a spot in another LCME accredited medical school. However, if possible I would like to transfer to UA after taking step 1. Does anyone know of anyone who has successfully transfered? What compelling reasons would be valid to warrant a transfer besides wanting to be near fiance and home. Either way if I am not allowed transfer I'll try to do most of my rotations in AZ, but I'd like to transfer if possible. If anyone knows anything about the process, and if any slots have even opened up (i.e. people already dropping out), let me know.
