I'm a path resident and want to switch to FM. How might I go about obtaining FM LORs? I think I'll be taking the year off to maintain funding while I reapply to the match. Not sure if that makes it easier or harder.

Thanks!

Med school FM preceptors would be the best place to start.
That's what I figured. I only worked with one though and actually don't even remember her name. Two years ago feels like a long time already.

You could also work with your local FM on your downtime if you have any... Also, worst case scenario get your path guys to write FM tailored letters. Some of the best LoRs I read were not from FM docs, but from the specialty someone was switching from. As in:

Dear Adcom,

They may have started as a pathology resident, but they are definitely a better fit for family medicine because x, y, z.

You get the gist.
