How far away to stay? LA Step II CS

I heard that the traffic around this site is pretty crazy. How far away should we stay? The hotels listed by the USMLE don't look that promising.

La Quinta LAX looks good but it's 3.5 mi away. Is taking a taxi morning of, just not a good idea? What did people do who took it there?

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn LAX/El Segundo.

It was fine and made for a nice walk in the AM to the test site. ~15-20 minutes.
