is there a hospital culture resource book one can recommend?
I am looking for a good resource to self-learn how to read and identify errors or non-important results with blood, sputum, urine cultures, etc.

Thank you.

Might want to check what resources are available @ your work first...
Lexicomp has a lab & diagnostic test database (pretty sure micromedex has a similar feature); layout is similar to drug monograms but with the following elements:
  • Related Information
  • Overview
  • Use/Indications
  • Specimen
  • Container
  • Collection
  • Processing and Storage
  • Methodology
  • Normal Values/Findings
  • Limitations
  • Causes for Rejection
  • Additional Information
  • Index Terms
  • Applies to
  • References

I thought this thread was going to be about working in a toxic environment. Instead, it was actually about a healthcare topic. I sometimes forget that is what we do.
