Does anyone here have any info on the history of the prescription? Like what year they started using them, or any other interesting tidbits of info. I can't seem to find much of anything in my searches.

I only know that Rx comes from latin for "Recipe"

Well, technically, the first "prescriptions" (ie, recipes) were in Ebers papyrus, Egypt, more than a 1000 BC. But I don't know when the first written prescription was presented to a pharmacist (chemist)...could be around the time of King Frederick's Edict that seperated the disciplines of medicine and pharmacy. Don't remember the year, but it was around the time of the Crusades, in the "dark ages".
