Hi,
Is it possible for a non-American citizen who, upon graduation from a 6-year undergrad-entry MBBS degree in Australia, to do his/her internship and residency in the US without doing the internship in Australia? (assuming that he/she has done very well on the USMLE steps 1&2 during the 6 years of med school) I vaguely remember that in order to do internship in the US, one has to have attended 3 years of undergraduate studies prior to medical school; is this true?
If the above is possible, is it then possible to practise medicine in the US thereafter, e.g. on a work visa? Is the internship in the US done by a non-American citizen paid?
Thanks a lot for any info!
