Hi,
I'm a 4th year med student and still undecided about whether or not GI is for me. One issue I don't know much about and would love to know more concerns the average lifestyle of a GI. Once you join a group, what are your hours like on a daily basis? Do you typically work weekends? How often are you on call and, if so, is it common to be calledin at night for a GI bleed? Is the best way to expand your renumeration to make partner (if so, how hard is it to do so?) and/or own a piece of the endoscopy center?

What are the best vs. worst aspects of the field? Are most GI's happy with the decision they made?
I'm sorry if these questions seem trivial, but I'm pretty confused and I'm trying to gather as much information as I can right now before I make the final commitment. Thanks for the input.
