gases that react with the solvent are more soluble.

what about non ideal soln which has a positive heat of solution. non ideal solution has intermolecular bonds between solute and solvent. positive heat of soln causes weaker bonds, molecules can break free easier, and vapor pressure is raised....doesn't solubility decrease in this case?

or perhaps reacting and intermolecular bonding are two seperate things to be considered.

well if a solution has positive heat of solution the solute is not very soluble; consequently, the gas wouldnt react. however, since solvation increases entropy solvation may occur (G = H - TS). Also, positive heat of solution does not cause weaker bonds, its the weaker bonds that are formed b/t solute and solvent that result in a positive heat of solution.
