Hi all,
I'm a third year foreign student (no US citizenship) trying to plan my fourth year rotations.
I only get 6 weeks of elective time that I can contribute to a psych rotation in the US and I'm trying to decide whether to spend the whole time in one hospital or to try and split it up into two lots of 3 weeks.
Two 3 week rotations could mean 2 LoRs instead of one and would allow me to see what psych/living in general is like in different areas of the US. On the other hand, my previous experience has been that 3 weeks isn't really long enough to get comfortable in a team and show people your skills etc.
I'm also hoping to spend some time in the US for an IM-type rotation (school won't allow me to use that as a psych rotation). I'll try to get another LoR from that but I'm a bit worried that an LoR from a non-psych specialty will look as though I'm using psych as a backup?
Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.
