Anyone know what the lifestyle of an Electrophysiologist is like? I like cardiology, but not sure I wanna deal with typical lifestyle. I was wondering if EP was any better? My reasoning being that there are probably fewer emergencies in EP in comparison to say, interventional cards. Any insight into the future of EP would also be appreciated. Thanks!

My current rotation is cardiology and my preceptor is an EP doc. I would have to say his life is pretty nice. He's in a group that's state-wide and is one of the few EP docs on it. Seems to be no worse than 8-5 so far, with the occasional call night. I'm just in my first week, though, so I'll let you know more if anything changes.

EP is a nifty field. I like it so far. And I would not have thought I would have liked cardiology!
