There always be a debate about which is better a DO or a MD. In my opinion, I think they are both excellant careers. Matter of fact the DO program in the city where I live was started several moons ago by a MD. I have always had the belief that DO's treat the whole self and MD's specialize. However, it is possible to specialize as a DO. What does any one else think?

When I first started researching DO's and MD's, I had a hard time understanding what the difference between the two is. But, after speaking with a few doctors and reading about them, I think both DO's and MD's make excellent doctors. However, most MD's specialize and most DO's provide primary care and their philosophy is slightly different. But, basically both types of doctors can choose whichever path is right for them. I recently had surgery and my doctor is a DO and my surgeon was an MD.
