So I've been shadowing this OMM specialist for the past few months now, and he agreed to write me a LOR about a month ago.

It has been almost two weeks since I sent him my draft, personal statement, and resume (all of which he had requested), but I still have not heard from him.

Is this normal? He usually is pretty responsive to emails and gets back to me within a day or two. I sent him a follow up email about the letter a few days ago and still no response.

I'm getting kind of worried since his LOR is the last one I need to be complete. Is it still considered early in the application cycle? Any tips for getting him to respond? I'm thinking of visiting him at his private practice, but I usually schedule a visit with him beforehand and don't want to show up uninvited and be like, yoooo where's my letter...

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

I'm pretty much in the same situation. Just waiting on my DO LOR. He said he would have it done Friday, but it still isn't shown as complete. Hopefully we'll get them in soon

I waited for 4 months and had no idea whether my DO had received my request lol. Randomly received an email from Interfolio one day saying they had received it.

If it has only been two weeks I say to give it more time and send a friendly reminder every now and then. Physicians are super busy and honestly get distracted like the rest of us. I asked for a letter almost 2 months ago and still waiting, but I understand how busy his practice gets.

Some people just drag their feet on letters. I asked three professors for letters in January with an April due date. One of them sent it in just passed the deadline. The other one needed two email reminders and the last has finally sent it in after four email reminders. I asked for my DO letter early June with an early July due date and I got it a few days before the due date with no email reminders. Funny thing about the professor that needed 7 months and tons of reminders, his class required a final 75 page report on our Capstone project with heavy late penalties... lol. The last two letters I got, I emailed the professors saying I had missed the deadline for a few schools and that I was about to miss a few more deadlines. They sent their letters in just a few days after that. Letters were probably generic as possible but atleast I can apply.

It is normal, but it's also normal for you to email him like "hey friendly reminder xyz is due on this date" or whatever. All but one of my 6 LOR writers took until the last possible day to submit their materials. It's just the way it is unfortunately.

Just breathe! LORs usually take at least a month. My DO LOR took a month and my MD LOR took 2 months. Chances are he/she is just busy. I would wait another week or so and then send a follow-up email saying, "I just wanted to check in with you and see if there was anything else you needed for my LOR. I'm excited to submit everything and start hearing back from schools soon."

OMG he finally responded via email:
"Hey _____,
Your letter is done, do you have a link to Interfolio so I can upload?"
YAY!!!
