I am interested in pursuing a medium competitive field (gen surgery, OB/GYN), but I have no research experience. I am about to choose my schedule for 3rd year, was wondering if it will be better to put my research/elective early or late. The good thing about putting them late is that I will have more of an idea of what I want to do as I progress through the year, but will starting research late third year (theoretically continuing into 4th year) hurt my chances of including my research for residency applications? Thanks!
