Hello all i was wondering if Med schools are a little lenient towards minorities. Being half Mexican, i was wondering if i could use this to my advantage. I know like all forums there are trolls here that say "dont count on it" or "dont use it as crutch", but i just want to know if it has some pull in the application process

You can find graphical representations of AAMC data on past applicants of different backgrounds with varying cGPA and MCAT combinations here, from which you can draw your own conclusions: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=888650

In making their decisions, adcomms are likely to also consider the degree to which you maintain connectedness with your ethinic community, your language fluencies, and whether their school has a mission to improve care for patients with the same background as yours.
