Currently have a 3.37 sgpa with upward trend since I got all A's this semester and hopefully will do the same next. The highest I'd get my sgpa would be 3.5ish or the high 3.4's. cgpa is over 3.6 and will probably end ~3.7.

No MCAT yet but have been getting around 515 on practices.

If my actual MCAT ends up near my practice scores, would I be considered a competitive applicant for DO? Or is it iffy because of the GPA?

More than competitive. If you get around a 515, send out plenty of MD apps too. Your gpa is weak but your Mcat will be above average for low tier MD schools

Just for reference, would a 3.4 cGPA and a 3.7 sGPA be more competitive than OPs gpa?

Also I would say as long as you're over a 500 with balanced subsections you should be fine for many DO programs. 515 will get you into any DO you want I think.

Rising GPA trends are always good, even for MD schools

Will the upward trend in sgpa be viewed the same when the classes are pretty different?
Like, I showed weakness in chemistry after my "eh" performance in ochem both semesters then very strong performance in phys/biochem -- is that still strictly seen as improvement, or just strength in different areas?

Ok - thanks. One last question...how is a "u-shaped" upward trend viewed? I just flat out had a very bad semester during my sophomore year, but I'm graduating early a semester or two so I won't have a full senior year

gpa for each year
c: 3.6/3.4/4.0
s: 3.5/3.0/4.0

fresh/soph/jun(current)

They're very common. Won't hurt you
