Defer Undergrad Admission?

I want to become involved in humanitarian initiatives before starting college. Not quite sure about the specifics, but perhaps PeaceCorps or some other NGO in the Asian country I was born in.

This is not for med school apps. I just don't want to jump right into undergrad and want a bit more time to give back. That being said, would it work better if I take a gap year after College to do this? I wouldn't mind either paths as long as I end up doing it at some part of my life.

Most Peacecorp positions require college degrees. Hard to find one without one.

Would also do after college, or maybe during college as a year off. You gain a lot of wisdom/maturity/life skills in your first couple years away from home, and you'll want to have all that sorted out before something as big as a year of international humanitarian service
