I see all these different bonuses and calcuations and stuff -- would like to get just a broad idea of how it ends up adding up. Was hoping someone could post their bottom line during training and where they trained.

Single resident on in a high rent area like DC: $5600/month after tax. Less if you live in a cheaper city.

Married resident gets about $6,000/month

GMO gets the same as a resident plus a $15,000/year bonus

Board certified attending gets the same as a resident plus a big bonus depending on specialty, at least $37,5000/year

Not much sense in posting net numbers - too many variables.

Google 2014 pay tables to see your base pay and BAS. Adjust for rank and time in service (0-3 with less than 2 years probably). It should be pretty official in light of recent Congressional movement.

Then google BAH calculator. It should let you adjust for rank and dependents, but it may not yet have 2014 adjustments. Use the zip code of your duty station.

VSP for internship will be a flat $100/month.

OCONUS COLA during training should only be an issue if you'll be at Tripler.

There are plenty of websites to estimate your tax burden based on dependents, mortgage interest, state of domicile, etc.

Do arithmetic - voila.

If you have an iPhone, download an app called "Military Pay Calculator". It will give you a pretty good estimate of how much you will make monthly
