client went to vet. client too stupid or illiterate to read bill/question charges prior to payment. client mad and decides to bitch on internet about entire profession. end.

More like: Client goes to Vet: Client Ripped Off. Client realizes that Veterinarians are nothing more than price gouging con artists.

clever reply. you know, any time you want to answer anything that anyone's asked of you, go right ahead. not that any of us really care.

“I can't do Xanax, it just puts me to sleep. I wasjust wondering if anyone has tried anything that has made the job tolerable.
And yes, I am a pharmacist. Sorry, just havent changed my title on SDN yet.”
If you are an actual pharmacist, why would you buy ANY drugs from a veterinarian?? When the vet said your dog needed meds, why wouldn't you ask which ones??

Re: A vetpharm class --- “I took it a couple summers ago. I enjoyed it.”

Then maybe you should be a little more aware of what goes on in the vet world???

Hahaha this made my day. FAIL by the supposed pharmacist who took veterinary pharmacology and yet had no idea he could get these drugs at any pharmacy.

:troll:

OP, do you not realize how *****ic you sound? Most of us are just fed up and are probably laughing at you at this point. I'm in it for the :roflcopter::corny: now.

Honestly, you've already made up your mind about this issue and you really don't want any information that leads you to a conclusion other than, "ALL VETERINARIANS ARE SELFISH GREEDY SCUMBAGS WHO ROLL AROUND IN BUCKETS OF MONEY ALL DAY!!11!1eleventy!! DURDUR!" Since you're not answering any of the legitimate questions posed or responding to the informational posts, just head on out.

We all have too many other things to do to worry about a jerk like you - such as the free microchipping clinic that I'm volunteering for at school on Saturday for low-income owners. Because I hate animals and their clients and just want to take all of their money. Obviously.

The greatest part is, no matter how many people the OP tells about "con artist" vets, people are going to consider the source and then  just like we are. I highly doubt you come across as intelligent enough for anyone to actually take you seriously.

You better believe I tell patients who are paying 25/pill for a Cialis or Viagra that they can get Levitra for 9/pill at Walmart. And if their medication is really expensive I am going to offer them our generic plan where they can get a 90 day supply for 11.99. I am going to do everything in my power to ensure a patient is happy with their experience and get the best price possible. If someone doesn't have insurance I put in a discount card and take off sometimes 30-50% of the medication cost because that is the kind of person I am. Times are tough the economy is in the crapper, I'm going to help people out anyway I can, not price gouge them.

And I keep copies of what meds are covered under Publix's FREE antibiotic meds. If someone can't afford it I tell them they can get it for free there.

why aren't you telling them about the free meds IMMEDIATELY instead of only waiting for them to go cry in their car, then on the internets, then saying they aint' got no moneys. Thats unethical, and what a con artist of a pharmacist!

One of my patrons sells viagra he gets from southeast asia for really cheap. One of the young boys bought some off him and then complained of this massive headache he couldn't get rid of... not to mention other things.

Bottom line to solve all our problems... buy viagra from a westerner who bought them cheap on his travels in southeast asia, then end up with a massive......head ache.

win.

I'm confused as to why you're so shocked by shelving fees when your status lists you as pre-pharm. There are shelving fees in all aspects of medicine. The difference with vet med is that there are generally less generic brands available, and - I'm assuming, in this case - no insurance to help cover the cost.

In my experience, veterinarians dealing with price sensitive clients are VERY good at directing clients elsewhere. As you are probably well aware, the dosage still needs to be calculated by the vet in order to remain safe, in these situations.

But a veterinarian can't help you find other options if you don't make it known that you need them. They're very smart people, but they still can't read minds.

And of course - veterinarians don't set the prices of the pharmaceuticals they sell. Surely you understand this.

If you TRULY believe you've been ripped off, I'd recommend calling your veterinarian; I would NOT recommend opening your spiel in the manner you did on these forums. Speaking like that to anyone - particularly one who is only doing their job - is only likely to make your clinic angry and yourself more frustrated.

I'm sorry, I couldn't read these posts.

Do they let people who can't spell and construct sentences into pharmacy school? Also... stupid people?

Vets, like MDs, write prescriptions. Ask for one. Fill it elsewhere. I can understand the average client not realizing this, but your ignorance is a little harder to swallow.
