My Comlex one is scheduled in about a week and I just took the Comsae C timed. I was pretty disappointed because I got a 483.

But I did the combank twice and got a 75% (mean was 68%) and the comquest once. (I got a 73% vs the 64.8% overall subscriber average)

I know that a lot of people did better on their comlex than on the comsae but I just don't know what to do. My combank and comquest sample size is 6,500 questions versus the one comsae's sample size of 200 questions.

Did anybody else do "ok" on their question banks, poorly on their comsae's and then get a comlex that reflected their solid question bank scores? Thanks...

Did you take COMSAE A, B and D yet?

I've been through FA many times and I did all the combank+comquest questions. I also went through Pathoma a few times and Savarese. (This comsae gave me a good score range for OMM)

The thing is that I don't think a small sample of 200 questions matches up to a much larger sample size of 6,500 test bank questions. Apparently I did poorly on micro on this one comsae even though I passed it comfortably on comquest/combank.

I thought there were only 3 comsae tests for step 1, right? Regardless, since I can't see the answers, how much does it really help? I know what the questions are going to be like now. I thought that comquest did the best job of making the questions ambiguous.

Kind of in the same boat. Not scoring as high as I'd like with comsae but getting higher than user averages on the q banks. Maybe the comsae may have been skewed towards your weaknesses? 200 questions that are not evenly spread out among all the topics might not be very representative

Of course it was just one comsae that I took. I have more faith in 6,500 questions vs 200. :p

But it is scary because the real test is only 400 questions, a small sample size there.

You shouldnt fail. I mean from what Im hearing your scores are in the mid 500's. People that are hitting occassional 90s but low 80's average are hitting low 600s. Like I said, its just an observation but I think you are in the mid 500's. Dont worry about comsae. Its supposed to have very little correlation. I know one guy who got low 500s on it then got a 722, one of my good friends got 725 on comsae c and got 687 on the real deal, then another friend got 490 on comsae and 7 days later got a 616. Its all over the place. Just target your weaknesses and youll be fine. You WONT fail dude..I mean I dont know if a 73 average will get you a 600, and Im not really sure what your goals are but if you kill your weaknesses, I think its definitely possible. Why dont you try form B. Its supposed to be more accurate. I think youll be pleasantly surprised.

I don't think we can access form D on our own.

Yes you are right but schools are providing that. Some DO schools require you to pass a COMSAE to take the actual exam, and nowadays, the schools are providing D instead of the C.

This is an old post I found from 2 years ago but Comquest said that a 62% on their question bank was a pass and a 69% was an above average w/ 90% certainty. So with the 73% I got, I shouldn't be nervous, right? (it was a 73% the first time through w/ timed tests and randomized questions, no redos to inflate the score.)

But I still am....

How well you need to do on the comquest!

This is an email i got from comquest! I hope this helps! Realize that this is not a 100% guarantee but a way to at least get a feel if you are near a desired goal!

Hi xxxx,

We're gathering more data, but a 62% is a pass and 69% is above average on the COMLEX with 90% certainty. Again, we're gathering data and will have more accurate numbers in the near future.

Thanks,

I still wonder why there overall average is a 64.86% for the past 2 months that I have been using it? I think they just typed it in to make you feel better. I am sure that the overall 64.86% hasnt changed much. Maybe someone else who has noticed it more than comment.

If being your friend gets me above a 600, then Ill be your friend :)

What did you do to get 6500 questions?

Combank is 2400 and Comquest is 1700 so thats 4100 approximately. Did you do Uworld?

I would take another COMSAE to see if this was an aberration or where you are truly scoring.

Youll be above average dude. I think you can score in the top 10 percent if you work on your deficiencies. I think what a lot of people do at the end is they try and redo EVERYTHING but why waste time on stuff you know you are pretty much at your peak with? Why not just work on the points you are quite sure you will screw up? At least thats how Im approaching it. Im not going to improve in patho or physio, im SURE of that but I have quite some work to do with other things so Ive been working on that. Well see how it plays out.

Someone else said it above. A lot of this exam (unlike usmle) is about decision making and remaining calm in the midst of craziness..If you can do that, which many wont be able to do, youll be good to go :)

Yeah my friend and I just noticed that two days ago. I think that's the average score of all users for every question ever taken, not the average score of users per test. Quite misleading
