AFAIK, the EVMS program is one-of-a-kind.*

I interviewed there, FWIW. I also interviewed for a faculty spot after residency. The program director, Jim Dixon, is a great guy. Here's the link to their web site: http://www.evms.edu/intmed/combo/index.html

I decided not to go there because I was pretty much convinced that I didn't want to do hospital medicine and I didn't want to specialize. The thought of having to maintain dual board certification was also unattractive, as was the additional year of training. Pretty much the same reason I didn't want to do med-peds.

As for why I didn't take the faculty job, they didn't offer it to me. I think they knew I was leaning strongly towards private practice, which is what I ended up doing.

*Edit: No, there is another (see below).

I've heard the insurance for FP's is a lot higher than most other practices, how true is this, and can anyone put a comparison on it?

Maybe he's talking about malpractice? It's not that clear.

Maybe. Still, it's pretty odd to presume that family physicians would pay more than, say, OB-gyn or neurosurgery. I'd hate to spend a lot of time answering the wrong question. ;)
