Hey guys! I'm finishing up my Columbia and NYU apps and hoping to submit them by next week. For the resume, did you guys keep it to one page, or expand it to a few pages to list everything you did in college/medical field?

I will be submitting a CV so its a couple of pages. I don't think you need to keep a resume to 1 page- definitely list all your college/medical field experiences!!

Did you do the video interview yet? How was it?

Does anyone know the timelines for these programs? I know NYU's site says we may not hear back until March / April, but does anyone know someone in the program who heard back earlier? It just seems much later than other programs I've applied to! Also, best of luck to you all!

Does anyone know much about Columbia's previous acceptances? I am going back and forth on whether it's worth it for me to apply/whether I have a chance... I have a pretty solid application, minus my GPA, which I feel might hurt my chances bigtime at a school like Columbia. I'll post my stats below, if anyone has any opinions (honest opinions VERY welcomed) please let me know :)

Major: Psych, Minor: Childhood Studies

Cum GPA: 3.25

Prereq GPA: 3.5 – 4.0, depending on the school

GRE: Q 150, V 156, W 5.0

Extracurricular: Camp Kesem (+ 2 years of exec leadership positions), sorority (+minor leadership positions within), service/citizenship fraternity at my school, dance marathon at my school (raises money for our local pediatric hospital), autism speaks (president for 2 semesters)

Volunteer: ~156 hours volunteering at a pediatric hospital, 2 semesters of tutoring adults working towards getting their GEDs, summer camp (Camp Kesem) for children whose parents have cancer

Research: have assisted in 3 labs within the past 3 years (1 psych-related, just for a semester; 1 working with spinal cord injury patients for this past summer; 1 working with neurodevelopment disabilities for ~ 1.5 years now)

Work: did a practicum-type experience at a school for children with autism last year for a semester; have worked at my school’s medical library for the past 2.5 years

Other experiences: attended SOTI, a month-long OT immersion experience at USC

(I have an upcoming interview at Ohio State and was denied from Tufts)

has anyone done the video interview yet for columbia? what were the questions like!?

Hey! I think your experience is amazing!! You have so many hours and you're involved in so much so that will def stand out especially since they look at applicants holistically. GRE scores are good, but NYU and columbia both don't require those. the only thing is your overall gpa but I think it will be overlooked bc of all of your involvement. goodluck!!! make sure your interview answers are thorough and really show your passion.

Hello! Has anyone received an update or has information on when we will hear from NYU or Columbia? Thanks!

Hello! Has anyone received an update or has information on when we will hear from NYU or Columbia? Thanks!

According to last year Columbia didn't send out acceptances until March. NYU the end of Feb

heyo! current nyu OT student here!
I heard really early last year (Feb 8!) from NYU and knew of one other person who found out their decision a bit later in Feb. Generally march is when you will hear but don't be surprised if you get that email earlier. I heard from Tufts super early and columbia the first week of march!
All the best & good luck to everyone! and remember it doesn't matter where you end up in the end (although make sure its accredited)!

Anyone got an email from NYU? Their decisions are up!

Just got accepted to NYU MS program!
Same :) I would love to experience NYC but afraid of the cost
Btw in the letter it says we have to put down our deposit by three weeks from today or 4/15. Does this mean for us we have to decide by three weeks from today?

I think it says whichever one is later, so like if you were to get accepted on April 14th they give you three weeks to decide. But for those accepted now, we have until April 15th. That’s my interpretation. I can probably get some clarification tomorrow and pass it on if you want to be 100%!

Has anyone else not heard from NYU yet? I wonder if the next wave will come out three weeks from now after the first wave’s deposit is due

I’m not sure! I’m really stuck between NYU and Downstate. Did anyone hear about scholarships or financial aid being given out yet? I would love to go to NYU and I live outside of the city too so it’s an easy commute, but not sure if it’s worth the price...

I'm in the same exact boat. Downstate is so much more affordable but NYU is my #1 choice. I will apply to their scholarships but i'm pretty sure it's not gonna be enough. I also read elsewhere that their not that great in terms of teaching sensory but the resources are wonderful. I'm also worried because I want to apply to the DOE scholarship and if I am correct, if you get any scholarships, you aren't eligible to apply to the DOE scholarship. So much to think about...

Hi everyone! I'm trying to figure out the tuition for the MS/OTD program, does anyone know if a "unit" is the same thing as credit? If so, I tried calculating the total tuition and got around $161,550, does that seem accurate for NYU?

Did anyone receive an email from Columbia regarding their "preliminary prerequisite checklist"? I was a little confused the wording of the email threw me off. It made it seem like I was accepted, however, I never received an email so I was confused.

I might have just read it wrong, but I was wondering if anyone else received this email?

i also got that email! I believe it’s just confirming which pre-reqs we have and that our applications are in review? I received similar emails from the other schools I applied to. I’m not positive though and I haven’t called them to confirm!

That is what I am thinking it must be! The wording just confused me a little bit.

Hopefully, that means we hear some good news soon!
