Hello doctors ....

I want to know some information to help me choosing a speciality .. I am in between Cardiology ( because of interventional field ) and cardiac surgery.

Can you tell me any advice and the future of the career .

Also I know the training in US is way better but what about training in UK ?

Thanks

I don't know about the training in the UK, but in the US cardiology is based in internal medicine whereas cardiac surgery is based in well.. surgery. Interventional cardiology is not as invasive as actual surgery.

So it comes down to 1) how invasive do you want to be, and 2) if cardiac/cardiology doesn't work out, would you rather be an internist/hospitalist/general cardiologist without procedures, or a surgeon. <-- This is based on the US model of residency/fellowship. Again, I'm not sure of the inner workings in the UK to compare directly.
