During deployments, who are Army Dentists generally rated by? I'm a deployed Army Doctor and the Dentist in my clinic is currently being rated by the local Med Service company commander rather than the Brigade Surgeon. Is this normal? It is setting up bad incentives such as the company pulling the Dentist away from patient care to do admin work directly for the company. So now the Dentist has to choose whether to see fewer patients or receive a poor OER from a junior Captain. Physicians generally are rated by the Bn/Brigade Surgeon or Commander rather than the company so if they want to pull for admin I can say no unless it comes down from the O-6. I was just curious if this was the norm for you folks and if so I am very sorry to hear it.
