Can a MD bill for manipulative treatments?

I learned today that DO's can bill 2-3 minute add ons for manipulation treatment on top of a normal visit. Does an MD need any formal certification to do manipulation or would taking a class at one of the osteopathic institutions suffice? Furthermore, would an MD get reimbursed if they were to bill for this service? I am interested to hear if any MD's are doing this. Thanks.

I have and MD IM friend who took the 4 day intensive class at Michigan State and billed regularly for OMT treatments that she was comfortable doing. She did get a certification letter from her course.

She never did any of the "back cracking" but learned the alternate techniques well enough to be comfortable and the patient's loved it.
