For acute short term use of less than 2-3 weeks, it's difficult to argue against its efficacy in controlling symptoms of a trauma. PTSD doesn't start until a minimum of six months after the trauma has passed. Therapy, SSRI's, and alpha and beta blockers work wonders. Long term benzo use needs to stop.
