Has anyone else had this experience?

At Colorado (RMLEI), they gave me a *very* thick schpiel about how much they liked my app, and how well they thought I would fit in there, and how I should really consider ranking them highly. They even added that they only say this to "a few people". I was eating it up until I covertly asked one of the other applicants if he got the same story. Sure enough, he did, and said he had already heard that it had been given to a couple of other people. Pretty disappointing.

Did anyone else there interview at CU, and get the same amount of sunshine blown up your skirt? And what other places are known to do this?

As I've posted before, I did not like Colorado's selection policies or comments to me and other applicants. I ended up not ranking them last year.

Bogus feedback appears to be fairly prevalent on the interview trail. I know I had my share of it. Don't believe anything you're told.

I wonder why programs feel the need to engage in this sort of behavior?
