It’s like telling a socialist they’re hypocritical if they have an iPhone when that wouldn’t even make sense in an ideal world.
I don't think the iPhone thing makes sense, but I would expect a socialist to give his goods to others. I don't respect socialists who fly on private jets, foreign policy hawks who refused to serve in the military, or libertarians who make a career off of public programs.

I have never understood people who think that they should be the last ones who need to live by their principles.

You are responsible for your own actions and choices. Life is not fair and handouts can end at any time. Try to see reality for how it really is. Liberals either cannot or refuse to understand these basic truths.
Yeah, because a poor child born with HIV and addicted to heroine should’ve made better choices.

Extreme example, perhaps, but a real one. And you’re right — entitlements are at risk and it’s for the benefit of the less powerful and wealthy people in our society that they remain so they have some way up the social ladder.

And attacking “liberals” as a group in an argument is a below the standard that should be expected of educated adults.

A socialist in a socialist society would act according to how their particular socialist society were set up. But I suppose generally, socialists would keep the wealth gained from their production and it wouldn’t go to an employer since that’s viewed as a form of exploitation — worker makes a thing for $2, employer sells it for $20, keeps $19 and gives worker $1.

What was this thread about??

Do you think your salary would stay the same if you stopped providing patient care? You really don't think that your employer (whoever they are) hired you to provide patient care and is basing your salary on your providing it?
You think a resident would continue to have a job and be paid if they stopped providing care/research (ie. their job)?

And I'm pretty sure if I was able to get my patients to not need to see me anymore, I"d get a big fat bonus.
