I got accepted to Midwestern University in Arizona (AZCOM) and Rocky Vista University in Southern Utah (RVU).
RVU:
Pros:
-Close (ish) to family
-Great test scores
-Everyone there seemed very nice
-P/F
-Has global medicine and Spanish classes that I am interested in
Cons:
-Small school
-Newer
-I’ve heard rotations can be a mess
AZCOM:
Pros:
-Possibly more well known
Cons:
-Haven’t visited there yet.
- A bit more expensive (RVU tuition $62k, AZCOM $77k)
-Possibly better match list (more students to more competitive residencies like ortho)
-Not P/F
I am from Utah and am interested in some competitive specialties (like ortho, ENT, and general surgery). Any thoughts on which school is better? I am worried about Rocky Vista seeming like a smaller school. But AZCOM seems more expensive and not P/F. Any thoughts? Which one will give me a better chance at a competitive specialty?
