Applying to two specialties

Hi,

So I’ve been advised before that when applying, some choose to apply to a specialty and an AEGD/GPR “as back up” in case they don’t match to their specialty. But I was just wondering what happens if someone chooses to apply to two specialties for example ortho and pedo to different institutions and which are also in different phases in the match?

If you want to go through the mental gymnastics of writing 2 different personal statements for both specialties as well as trying to explain to the faculty that are writing your LORs that you want to pursue both ortho and pedo, then good luck lol
