Hi, I am a rising junior at one of the top public universities (top 3) and I am hoping to matriculate into an MD program without a gap year. I am seeking advice on how to strengthen my app -- particularly what I am missing EC wise. A bit about me::

cGPA and sGPA: 3.98
MCAT: Diagnostic was at 510, testing Jan 2024 with 5 months of studying
California Resident
White
Top 3 Public University
Clinical Experience including expected by the time of application:
  • 120 hrs Finance Director and Clinical Volunteer for Vision Clinic
  • 100 hrs as a volunteer patient escort in a free clinic
  • 100 hrs as a volunteer scribe in a free medical clinic
Research Experience
  • 800 hrs in nonclinical Alzheimer's lab (2 poster presentations, BIG MAYBE 1 publication)
  • 100 hrs club-directed research on healthcare literacy (1 poster presentation, 1 BS publication)
Shadowing: IDK yet, prolly something basic with pediatrician
Nonclinical volunteering:
  • 400 hrs as a VP in a club that works in senior homes and does brain exercises to mitigate Alzheimer's
  • 500 hrs as a VP in a club that works with the d/Deaf community and specifically children
  • 60 hrs helping file tax returns
  • 200 hrs as a physics tutor in the classroom
LOR:
  • Extremely strong letter for PI
  • Letter from Opthalmologist from my work at the vision clinic
  • nothing exceptional from professors

FYI i don't think i have a real convincing story for why medicine so lowkey hoping stats/nonclinical volunteering will carry me
Also i dont have a school list yet but am hoping to stay in California

You had me until this. So you've been doing volunteering at a vision clinic and a free clinic, but you cannot find shadowing?

Do not confuse leadership with community service. What activities are you going that don't require you to be an officer?

Properly schedule the MCAT. Line up your references.
