I was on MO Medicaid the first 2 years i was there.Does anyone know if first year students are eligible for Missouri Medicaid?
The school insurance is BlueCross so it would cover you out of state. It's not particularly good insurance though, I think it has a pretty high deductible.I heard that the school health insurance is expensive. Does it cover you well though? And does it still cover you if you travel out of state? That's one of my concerns with getting MO Medicaid (if that's possible first year as an OOS student).
the school insurance is horrible. it has a copay of like $40 for a general visit and $80 for specialist visit.I heard that the school health insurance is expensive. Does it cover you well though? Typically there is a waiver you can sign. There's certain requirements that your health insurance has to meet though. I believe most schools don't accept other states medicare/similar types as they don't always work outside the state sufficiently. If you have your own or on a spouses you should be fine.If we have our own insurance, do they still force us to pay for theirs?

Not sure who exactly to contact about it but here's the link to the page about it: Student Insurance. I think last year the waiver to opt out of school insurance came out around orientation in early July.Do you know who we can contact to talk about all that?
I don't, I'm still WL here, so im basing my info off of last year when I went to a different grad school for my masters.Do you know who we can contact to talk about all that?
For my masters we got it beginning of orientation and had something like 3 weeks to fill it out if we wanted. Not sure who exactly to contact about it but here's the link to the page about it: Student Insurance. if I currently have califiornia's medicaid I need to re-apply to missouri's Medicaid right? if I'm incoming 1st year and oos resident am I still eligible to apply?if you're 26 and over, don't get the school's insurance. it's over $3,000 and the coverage is horrible. sign up for Medicaid. It'll save you a lot of $

I believe it's p/f ranked into quartilesDoes anyone know how student rankings and grading works for years 1-4?
All 4 years?I believe it's p/f ranked into quartiles
First 2 years are p/f/h.All 4 years?
It wouldn't be the worst, I know several students that live further away than that. However, if you are someone that wants to attend class in person then I would recommend living closer to campus. How strenuous would it be to commute from Overland Park to KCU for class during the first year?

not only if you attend class in-person. there are a lot of in-person labs (anatomy, OMM), and in-person requirements. It wouldn't be the worst, I know several students that live further away than that. I just graduated and they ranked us by quartiles for 3rd and 4th year. I guess they changed it for you guysfirst 2 years are p/f/h and ranked my quartiles, last 2 years are p/f/h and ranked by number.

Yes, we coordinate our own rotation sites for 4th year. It's not difficult but depending on how good your CV/transcript is, it can limit where you apply to or the programs you apply at. it also depends on the specialty you're trying to match into. Most people use VSLO and some other programs all you have to do is email them for an application form.Do 4th years coordinate their own rotations sites? How difficult is this?

You also set up housing, etc. for 4th year.
You can request for additional funds from financial aid through Workday and I have never heard of anyone being denied. Keep in mind they will be the grad PLUS loans and will have higher interest rates.Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question - but since we’re setting up our own housing do we still get adjusted financial aid for housing in 4th year? What if the area has a higher or lower COL than KC, for example if you rotate rural or NYC? Would we have to just figure it out if we need more money?
I wouldn't recommend it. Driving 30-40 minutes doesn't sound too bad now, but when you need to be on campus at 8am it's not gonna be fun. With how busy you'll be you probably also won't want to spend upwards of an hour of your day commuting. Also sometimes there is a few hour gap between required things and being able to go home in between if you live close to campus is really convenient. How strenuous would it be to commute from Overland Park to KCU for class during the first year?
Hm Ive heard opposite where they dont get adjusted loans for living in California/FL compared to rural MO but i could be wrong. You can request for additional funds from financial aid through Workday and I have never heard of anyone being denied.
