in simple terms, can someone explain why the half-life decreases in zero-order drug elimination as time goes on

So the drug is being metabolized at a constant rate say 1g/hr.

If you start out with 100g it will take 50hr for one half life,

Now if you have 10 grams left itll only take 5hrs for one half life. So the time required for half of the remaining drug decreases as time goes on.
