well if ur using coulomb's law logic to reason it out, then you've forgotten one crucial component, which is the charge....as you go down the periodic table, the charge also increases....so you could say the effect of increase in charge is greater than the increase of atomic radius or shells....
 
In theory, the inner electrons would block the nuclear charge 100%. So the effective nuclear charge felt by the outermost electron of lithium, sodium, or potassium would be +1.

But in reality the inner electrons, especially the electrons of the outermost complete shell, do not block charge 100%. They block about 85% of the charge on average. So as you go down the periodic table, more and more positive charge leaks out past the electrons.
