A nurse told me that if you have shoulder dystocia and push the baby back in in for an emergency c-section, you only have 2 minutes before the fetus runs out of oxygen. I can't exactly figure out what the baby would become hypoxic....the cord is still attached and the placenta is still attached, so what's the problem.

On a related note, anyone know what triggers separation of the placenta after delivery of the baby?
