I have the opportunity to do 1 year of research through the med school at one of my local universities. The only issue is I would have to postpone the remainder of my pre-reqs to do so. I don't have any research experience yet so I feel like this could be a great opportunity, I'm just worried about delaying my application for an additional year.

Thoughts? Is it worth it to do it or should I just focus on school?

Sounds cool but then again I am extremely biased towards research :)

How old are you? If you're 19, do it. If you're 29, don't.

26... I'll be 28 by the time I apply if all goes according to plan.

I've looked at a few undergraduate summer research programs as an alternative but have been told that having a bachelors in English with no prior research experience will be a tough hurdle to overcome. Which is kind of why I'm clinging to this opportunity lol. But I agree, taking a full year off probably isn't the best idea :/

Dude you're relatively young so I'd still say do it. This whole journey is a marathon
