So i was just wondering:

Enamel - Semitranslucent

Following is what I am not sure of:
Dentin - Translucent??
Bone - translucent??
PDL - Opaque???
mineralized structures : TranslucenT????

and translucent material - appear shiny white on Xrays and Opaque material as a dark band ???

Please if someone can just clear this up..taht would be great!
Thank you!!

Radiopaque does not let the xray beam through and it shows up as lighter. Amalgam Restoration is radiopaque. Soft tissue is Radiolucent compared to tooth structure, etc.

so i had a question concerning that!
why does the PDL appear as a dark band on xray? (thats what hte decks say)

Pdl is soft tissue.Ideally soft tissues( Like gingiva) are not seen on radiograph but pdl space is entrapped between two hard structures( cementum & bone) hence it is seen. More x rays pass through soft tissues like pulp and pdl hence they appear dark(radiolucent). and less xrays pass through dense structures like enamel so enamel appears white or radiopaque.
Hope that makes sense.
