Will the new VA bill affect podiatry residents at all?

I just graduated and will be working at a VA residency starting at the end of June. The bill seems like it will have long term ripple effects throughout the entire field of podiatry. Wondering if residents will be affected by this in the short term though? Are VA podiatry residents paid less than their MD/DO counterparts?

There is document that shows all resident salaries.

In general podiatry residents get about the same pay as MD/DO


The average for all VA residencies is about 45K, while couple have 52-55k

VA does not have its own residencies for MD/DOs. The VA hospitals typically serve as rotation sites for MD/DOs as part of their training program but are not responsible for their salaries. So yes in that sense the MD/DOs rotating at VA do receive a higher salary because the training programs typically pay a higher stipend than the VA.

VA does sponsor pharmacy and dental residencies which are in the similar salary range. Each site is different though.
