Why is it REQUIRED to log onto SDN to view only the Internship forum?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Has anybody else noticed that you have to log-in to see this forum? None of the other SDN forums seem to be like this... I wonder if it's a mistake  Mods?

My understanding was that there was a rash of threads that were breaking down into flame wars between MD/DOs and other health care professionals who were stumbling upon the forum and getting angered by typical intern ranting/blowing-off-steam.

There were a number of non-physicians who were being very inflammatory and argumentative in there. Requiring logging in cuts down on the random, non-physician traffic.

That's a good idea. Being an intern is like being pregnant- no one has any idea until it happens to them.

Last call: after finally falling 1/2 way to sleep at 0500- pager goes off at 0600:

"Dr- Mrs A's blood sugar is 96! Do you want me to hold her AM insulin??!!!"

me: "Has she decided to quit eating?"

The reward I get for correcting her evening dose.
