Why can't EKG be done if patient is having EEG?

We have a patient who is getting a 48 hr video EEG. We, in addition, ordered an EKG and were told that we had to wait until the EEG was over. Any idea why (it's not as if the EEG is imparting any electrical current on the patient that would screw up the EKG)?
