Hi, just curious as I'm new to this... why all of a sudden are people being banned? I noticed misterioso was banned... and then his new nickname, and then some others (other people)? Obviously I read the posts and understand that the flaming of ER residents and stuff wasn't cool, but, I thought his ridiculous posts were entertaining. Anyway, the purpose of this was to ask one question... i noticed someone was banned for "trolling". what is trolling? thanks

Trolling is when users make posts that purposefully attempt to ellicit negative responses from other forum members. They're generally blatantly offensive, full of inflammatory statements, and will often lead to "flame wars", which are essentially just strings of posts where users hurl insults at eachother. Flame wars generally accomplish very little and create a fairly unpleasant atmosphere in a forum. For this reason, users who consistently exhibit the aforementioned tendencies are banned from the forum. However, it's important to note that there really isn't anything wrong with presenting your own opinions and views on the forum, as long as you make sure you're not making any personal attacks against fellow board members. The mods are generally very good about distinguishing trolling from civil discussion on potentially touchy matters. :)

Users can also be banned for multiple other things besides trolling:

SPAMMing the forums
Posting Banned Content (ie, porn)
Reregistering after being Banned
Consistent disregard for the TOS

There is a fairly clear cut decision tree about what a person gets for what behavior (ie, a warning versus an infraction versus a posthold versus a ban).
