I was randomly looking through the resident diaries writers, and Troy Madsen is one of the writers. He is the man who took the fall for whistling blowing work hour violations at hopkins. This man has big balls.

How do you guys feel about the 80 hour work limit for residency? I've heard that in the beginning it helps to put in more hours to learn the ropes...balance with possibly providing sub-par health care in a state of delirium.

My nephew is Troy Madsen. He is only 10 months old, so it probably isn't the same guy.

As a patient Troy is a hero. Did you read where he fell asleep in the middle of doing a C section? Patient care is more important than any extra little thing you can pick up while in a stupor. Would you do your work drunk? Then why should you do the work when you are half asleep? Patients deserve the best you have. Reducing the hours will cut the accidents down and patients will benefit. Troy, thank you for taking a stand.
