Are you guys aware of literature on these? I tried to look but couldn’t find much. Are they recommended for infants/babies? I see they are very popular these days but worry about the child becoming reliant on them or effects on ear development if they’re on all night. Any thoughts on these? Thx

They have not been proven effective. With that said, parents like to try something... ANYTHING! At least that has been my experience both as a parent and a pediatrician taking care of colicky infants and their parents. White noise machines are relatively benign. Yes, they should be at a low setting with respect to volume. They should also be place as far from the child as possible in the room.

Idk if they’re effective but it definitely helped sleep train my kid. Haha. It was a part of the sleep routine. When the machine went on, they would go get their pj and tooth brush lol. Always low volume
