Which is more competitive faculty position in PEDs or IM

Dear all. I've a question.. I'm interested in hem/onc and I have slight preference towards PEDs ... But ultimately I want to have a faculty position in a university ...

Which is more easy to get ... Faculty position in PEDs or IM ??

- I heard that it is more competitive for PEDs as there is no rewarding private practise so all PEDs compete for such a position ...

- also I heard that research opportunities are much less in PEDs
