What makes a student Admitted Vs Waitlisted Vs Denied in an interview

Hi I was hoping someone could give me some insight on to what causes an applicant to be wait listed, denied, or accepted after an interview.?If you have a good interview can you still be wait listed because of mcat scores/grades or is it at this point this does not matter and it is about the social aspect of the applicant? Thank you!!
