Anyone else think they should do away with hSDN? Sure, a lot of us wanted to be doctors in high school...but come on!

No, I think it's important for students who are serious about becoming a doctor that are still in high school to have a place where they can ask these questions.

...but i also agree with the fact that, frankly, a lot of these questions are pointless and uneducated.

If you want goals, just set your goals to getting into a decent college first...then you can worry about medical school. Those are decent goals to start out with. Good luck.

I would say you probably should go ahead and study for step I.

GOAL # 1: Get good grades in HS.
GOAL # 2: Get into College.
GOAL # 3: Get good grades and learn in College, and do lots of EC.
GOAL # 4: Take MCAT and do well.
GOAL # 5: Survive the application process
GOAL # 6: Get accepted to MedSchool
GOAL # 7: Pass Step I, and II with flying colors!
GOAL # 8: Graduate MedSchool
GOAL # 9: Get accepted to a residency!

So, I would say you're still aiming for GOAL # 1 and 2. you goal is to become a doctor, so try to focus on the prereqs (grades, mcat, ....) that will get you there! Its good to have a mindset, but first remember what it takes to get there and accomplish all of those first!

Be a CT surgeon FOR SURE...that way, when you kill the patient in surgery because your wallet gets in the way, you can lie to the family and not get sued. If you mess up someone's eye they will just be blind, not dead, and you won't be able to get around the lawsuit.

For this reason it is completely logical to say CT surgeon >> VR Ophth

Call me when you become either of these so that I can put you on my rolodex for a rainy day. 1888URCOMPLETELYFREAKINGCRAZY

Oh, and when you are interviewing at med schools, please tell them your desire to specialize (include your criteria and reasons)! You will for sure get in (not)

Oh and one more helpful thing...the specialty with lowest risk of being sued and highest demand? Primary Care

BOOM goes the dynamite
