what is my best bet?

I am a OMS 1 student at touro university and I want to go into Cardiology. I am wondering if there is any D.O.s out there who have went into cards and I wondered what you did to make yourself a great candidate for cards. Obviously I know that good grades and doing good on boards (COMLEX and USMLE) are a given. Any advice would be great.
