Just spent hours trying to figure out who the PI's are in Boston doing endocrinology research. Found 3 only. Anyone have suggestions about how I could do this more efficiently or better?

(I am asking because I plan to send off quick emails asking to volunteer in their labs.)

(1) Identify the medical schools in Boston - wait, that's easy, there are three of them, four if you extend an hour out to Worcester - then look up the endocrinology sections/departments of those institutions and look at the profiles of their faculty.

(2) Go to https://projectreporter.nih.gov/reporter.cfm and type in your key words (you will need to be more specific than "endocrinology," mind you) and specify Boston, MA in the location fields. Hit "submit query." This will shoot back all the federally funded grants and training programs that meet your criteria, and you can easily identify the PIs on those projects.
