I matched to an academic preliminary program in Chicago (city center, not suburb). Does anyone need/prefer to be in Chicago this year for preliminary year? I would prefer a top 20 academic IM prelim program anywhere in the US (mainly concerned about program ranking, not location). This is for people who have an advanced specialty where the prelim year does not matter that much. I actually failed to match into my advanced specialty (derm) so I want a brand-name prelim year to look better for another round of applying, and also to network with the derm department there.
I am from a top 25 med school. I have a reasonable step 1 score (first attempt) and a very high step 2 score (also first attempt).
