So, in your experience, is there a correlation between hours and units.

Is it normal for a four unit course to require six hours in class?

Eample:

CLASS 3HRS
CLASS(LAB) 2HRS
CLASS(PRE-LAB) 1HR

TOTAL UNITS 4UNITS

Is this pretty standard?

Gen Chem lecture 9-10:45am
Gen Chem lab 6-9:45pm
= 5 1/2 hours for 4 credit hours
Comp I Tuesday and Thursday 12:30-1:45
2 1/2 hours for 3 credit hours
No idea the reasoning

There's a simple answer to your question..... NO. There is no rhyme or reason to credit hours and classtime from my experience. You're school may be different, but at mine there is no correlation. For example, I had a 2 credit engineering lab where we spent well over 6 hours a week in class plus about 10-15 hours outside of class working on it.

it turns out i was off.

it is actually:

Chem 3HRS
CHEM (LAB) 3HRS
CHEM (PRE-LAB) 1HR

TOTAL UNITS........4

Crazy, I think this school has "small man" disease.
